Multicolored Hindu Festivals

There are several Hindu festivals. As a matter of fact, annual spring festival is the most celebrated one; Hindu people mark the coming of spring. The festival is alternatively named “Festival of Dyes”. People use many dyes and herbs: dyes to make the festival multicolored and herbs – to prevent cold, fight spring avitaminosis and boost immune system.

As a rule, the festivals fall on the full moon according to the Hindu celestial calendar (the end of February or beginning of March).

Hindu women play with dyes and colored powder trying to splash dyes and throw powder on other people making them become painted in all colors of rainbow. The Manchester Art Gallery is proud to be hosting one of the world’s largest art pieces. The piece is made of three metal bowls.
